Kim Sae-ron’s Family Lawyer Under Police Investigation Following Whistleblower Allegations

Lawyer Bu Ji-seok, representing Kim Sae-ron’s family, is now under police investigation after being reported for alleged professional misconduct.

On May 14, Xports News confirmed that the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission (ACRC) has forwarded lawyer Bu Ji-seok’s case to law enforcement after a thorough internal review. The complaint, initially submitted by an individual identified as “A,” accuses Bu of overstepping his legal advisory role and allegedly presenting unverified claims as fact during public engagements and press conferences.

The allegations specifically point to Bu’s conduct while representing the bereaved family in their public accusations against actor Kim Soo-hyun, who was alleged to have dated Kim Sae-ron while she was still a minor. Kim Soo-hyun‘s agency has firmly denied the claim, clarifying that their relationship began only after Kim reached adulthood.

The ACRC found enough grounds in the complaint to suspect potential legal violations, prompting them to transfer the case to the police along with supporting documents. Authorities have since launched a formal investigation into Bu Ji-seok’s actions and the nature of his statements made in public forums.

Bu, who is affiliated with Law Firm Buyou, had partnered with comedian-turned-YouTuber Kwon Young-chan in spearheading multiple emergency press conferences. The complainant argued that this collaboration blurred the lines between legal advocacy and media sensationalism, calling it a “serious abuse of trust” that could undermine public confidence in the legal profession.

As the investigation unfolds, the controversy continues to stir public debate, especially given the high-profile nature of the individuals involved. Whether the case results in disciplinary action or legal consequences remains to be seen.
