Nana vs. THE BOYZ’s Sunwoo: “Rude and Shocking” vs. “Speechless” – Additional Statements Released

On April 12, actress Nana clarified her earlier criticism of THE BOYZ’s Sunwoo, who faced backlash over a viral video questioning his attitude.
She had commented, “He needs to be scolded,” later explaining that while she wasn’t judging his character, his behavior appeared “shocking” and “rude.” She described how he loudly claimed his AirPods but didn’t move to pick them up, which she found disrespectful.
Despite backlash from fans, Nana stood by her opinion while acknowledging the possibility of misunderstanding. Sunwoo had already responded on April 2, saying he was confused at the time and didn’t realize what had fallen. He admitted the clip may have looked rude but emphasized that he meant no disrespect and promised to be more mindful in the future.
However, as criticism persisted, Sunwoo made a second statement on April 13. “Honestly, I would never yell at a bodyguard in front of fans to pick up my AirPods. That’s insane. I was going to quietly reflect, but seeing how much hate I’m getting over a few seconds of footage is terrifying. People should know their limits. I wasn’t going to speak, but staying silent feels like it would rot me inside.”
He went on to apologize to fans who were upset, “There might be some THE B (THE BOYZ’s fandom) who hate even seeing me address this, and for that, I’m truly sorry.”
Wrapping up, Sunwoo made a promise to his fans, “To THE B—I promise I’ll work harder so that no one mistakes me for someone arrogant or rude again. I want to act in a way that even a stranger watching for a few seconds would say, ‘What a gentleman.’ This is something I truly believe I need to keep improving on.”
He concluded, “I’m used to being criticized, so please stop worrying about me. I’m really okay. Some might be upset, but the THE Bs who’ve watched me for years know who I really am.”

This incident has sparked a series of controversies related to Sunwoo’s past. Sexist comments he made on ASKfm in September 2020 resurfaced, along with his remarks about an actress in a music video, which ignited additional controversy.
