New Developments in Korean Actors’ Infidelity Photo Scandal
Actors Park Jun Hwi and Woo Jin Young have come forward to deny rumors of an affair. They insist there was no misconduct — they simply had dinner together and did not cross any lines.
Star Today reported that musical actors Park Jun Hwi and Woo Jin Young recently denied rumors of infidelity. The two stressed that there was no impropriety and apologized for causing a misunderstanding.
Park Jun Hwi shared that, since June 5, he had carefully read all the articles and comments about him. He recognized that his carelessness had caused deep, irreparable harm to his fiancée and her family. Park Jun Hwi sincerely apologized to his loved ones.
The actor explained that, starting in April 2024, he frequently dined with colleagues to prepare for their musical productions. In May, he hosted a late dinner at home with fellow actors. After a performance on June 4, he and Woo Jin Young had a quick meal together at his home, exchanged some words, and then said goodbye. Park Jun Hwi stressed that their relationship was purely professional, and he accepts all criticism without avoiding responsibility. He also apologized to his fiancée and Woo Jin Young.
“It pains me to have caused suffering to those I care about. Since April 2024, I frequently had dinner with colleagues in preparation for the show. On June 4, after the performance, Woo Jin Young and I met briefly, talked, then went our separate ways. Just like previous meetings, we simply had a meal together at home. My thinking that it was ‘nothing’ was a clear mistake. At that time, I was wearing comfortable attire (a short-sleeve shirt and shorts) while sitting in the living room with Woo Jin Young, watching a performance video.”
At the same time, Park Jun Hwi’s fiancée also came forward to clarify. She said that the photo was posted during a moment of confusion and distress. She insisted it was false to say Park Jun Hwi was sitting in his underwear on a bed and having an affair — it was a misunderstanding.
Woo Jin Young also addressed the rumors on social media. The actress insisted there was no misconduct or romantic relationship with her colleague. Woo Jin Young apologized to those affected by her carelessness in visiting Park Jun Hwi’s private space. She explained that she didn’t think there was anything inappropriate, which is why she didn’t view it as a big deal. Woo Jin Young further apologized to those who may have been influenced by her actions.
Earlier, on June 5, a photo of Park Jun Hwi sitting in his underwear alongside Woo Jin Young was posted on social media, fueling controversy.
The photo was removed after 10 minutes but had already gone viral across forums and social media platforms. Furthermore, a screenshot of a wedding invitation for Park Jun Hwi and another woman, alongside private messages exchanged between him and Woo Jin Young, was also leaked — fueling rumors that the actor was cheating just before his wedding.
In messages made public, Woo Jin Young asked: “May I shower? Is it OK?” Park Jun Hwi responded: “Close the door. I'll raise the phone’s volume.”
Some believe Park Jun Hwi’s fiancée may be the person who leaked these messages, after allegedly catching her future husband in an affair and choosing to release the photos.
Show Play Entertainment quickly replaced Park Jun Hwi with actor Kang Byun Hoon in the role of Peter and Woo Jin Young with Park Do Yeon in the role of Tanya for the musical Bare: A Pop Opera. Park Jun Hwi also withdrew from Nijinsky and another project, Deungdeunggok. The company canceled many of his scheduled activities and pledged to reimburse ticket holders in full.
Park Jun Hwi was born in 1993 and is a prominent musical actor in South Korea. He made his debut in 2016 with Secretly, Greatly and quickly made a name for himself through roles in The Goddess is Watching, Fire Sonata, Once Upon a Time in Haeundae, Ludwick: Beethoven the Piano, Brothers Karamazov, and Monte Cristo.
