Tragedy Strikes: Two Killed at Music Festival Featuring TXT

A shocking accident at a music event has left many in disbelief.

On April 5, a serious accident occurred at the AXE Ceremonia Festival — one of the largest music festivals in Latin America — held at Bicentenario Park in Mexico City. As the festival was in full swing, a crane suddenly collapsed around 5:30 PM, instantly turning the lively atmosphere into chaos.

This year’s AXE Ceremonia Festival was particularly special as it marked the debut of global K-pop sensation TOMORROW X TOGETHER (TXT) on its stage, making them the first Korean artists to perform at the event — a major milestone in their global journey.

According to local authorities, initial reports suggest that strong gusts of wind caused the crane to shake violently before it ultimately lost balance and fell. Two individuals were severely injured and rushed to the hospital, but unfortunately succumbed to their critical injuries. “The crane collapsed due to strong wind conditions. Despite receiving immediate medical attention, both victims were unable to survive their injuries,” Mexico City officials stated in an official announcement.

Known for its grand scale, the AXE Ceremonia Festival draws a diverse lineup of artists across genres such as Latin, hip-hop, rock, EDM, and indie. The presence of TXT this year added a special touch, marking an important step in the group’s global expansion.

However, the joyous occasion was quickly overshadowed by tragedy. In response to the heartbreaking incident, TXT issued a heartfelt message on April 7 through their official social media platforms. The group wrote:

“This is TOMORROW X TOGETHER. We offer our deepest condolences regarding the tragic incident at the festival. We pray for the souls of those who have passed and extend our sincerest sympathies to their families, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time.”

TXT’s touching and compassionate message quickly spread across social media, moving fans around the world. Many expressed their grief and solidarity through comments such as, “May the departed rest in peace,” “My deepest condolences to the victims’ families,” and “I hope event organizers will enhance safety measures to prevent such incidents from happening again.”

This tragedy has once again raised serious concerns about safety at large-scale music events. While thousands gather to celebrate music and lights, it's not just the spectacle that matters — ensuring the absolute safety of artists, crew, and attendees must always come first.
